"GENYADANA HAMADAYA" was founded in GENYADANA (geographic name): Nihonbashi Ningyocho, Tokyo, as a Japanese cuisine in 1912.
The geographic name of GENYADANA originates from Genya Okamoto (1578-1645): a doctor who lived here in Edo period (1600-1867)
GENYA was a doctor of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Genya treated the Shogun Iemitsu and completely cured Shogune of small pox. Genya leaped to fame as a good doctor. His descendants lived in this area for nine generations and continued the profession using this grand family name.
Thereafter, we have continued presenting the history and Japanese traditional food for 100 years.
We convey a heart of Japan and traditional Japanese culture through our cuisine served on beautiful dishes, the sukiya style of building, and our Japanese garden in now.
